 Insurance policy limits 100/200/100 meaning
Auto insurances always come with policy limits and they are usually three numbers separated by dashes. For example, you can have a policy limit of 100/200/100. What does that mean?

The numbers represent as follow:

bodily injury per person / top limit for all injuries from an accident / property damage to 3rd party

So when you get into an accident and you injured two people and damaged their car, your insurance will pay up to $100,000 per person for bodily injury you caused; up to $100,000 for property damages you caused (i.e. the car you damaged) and finally the total amount up to $200,000 for all injuries sustained from the accident.

It's important to know what your car insurance policy limits are so in case of an accident which happened through your fault, you know how much your insurance company will pay and how much you could be sued for in excess of that limit.

And most states have a minimum auto insurance liability requirement so check with your state DMV.

 Auto insurance
Auto insurance may be costly for people who don't shop around before buying a policy, but so can being involved in an accident.

 Insurance limits
I also want to add some information about insurance policy.Insurance limits are meant to cover particular exposures to loss. Each of the limits on the Declarations Page of your insurance policy is for a very specific reason. If you do not have sufficient coverage in one particular area, for instance physical injury, you can not apply limits from another category to the claim.

The person who hit you should be majority at fault......were their lights working? I know yours werent so depending on your state liability laws you may have some percentage of liability but the other party should be majority at fault (if you were off the road, how did they hit you?)
