States that banned talking on the phone while driving
What's surprising is that more states have not banned talking on the phone while driving.

    Arkansas (18-20 years old)

    California

    Connecticut

    Delaware

    D.C.

Hahwaii (All counties banned but not state)

Idaho (Idaho has a "Distraction in/on Vehicle (List)" attribute as part of its Contributing Circumstances element, and officers are supposed to list the distractions in the narrative.)

Illinois (Illinois bans the use of handheld cell phones while driving in a school zone or in a highway construction zone.)

    Louisiana (Learner or intermediate license)

    Maryland

    Nevada (Ban effective from 1/1/12)

New Hampshire (Dealt with as a distracted driving issue; New Hampshire enacted a comprehensive distracted driving law.)

    New Jersey

    New Mexico

    New York

    Oklahoma (Learner or intermediate license)

    Oregon

Taxas (Texas has banned the use of hand-held phones and texting in school zones.)

Utah (Utah's law defines careless driving as committing a moving violation (other than speeding) while distracted by use of a handheld cellphone or other activities not related to driving.)

    Washington

Yeah this seems to be a growing trend. I'm in Indiana and this has not yet been enacted. However, my Mother was involved in an accident with a teenager who was texting while driving. She has had injuries and the insurance company is trying to get her to settle. Should I have her hire an Indianapolis injury attorney?

That was a great stat. Surprised to see how many states are actually missing from the list. I thought it pretty much was the case in every state.

That's good that these states have taken the initiative. I thought it's going to be highly benefiting in terms of taming road accidents.

Wow good to know! So many states still don't have this rule.

I find this so stupid! Driving and texting should be illegal everywhere. In fact a cell phone should be designed to lose its signal in a car.

I totally agree with 411pain. Yesterday some lady veered into my lane playing with her hair and texting.
